I will show you myself
listening to you
for 90 seconds
Send me a 90 second voice memo.
I will film myself listening to you.
I will send you the video.
This is an interactive social art project that examines our need to be heard and our need to listen. It examines performativity vs authenticity; privacy vs visibility.
My name is Chase and I’m just some guy. Maybe you know me, maybe I am a stranger. Regardless, you probably have something to say that needs to be heard. Maybe it is difficult to find someone who will hear it. Maybe it is something that I have had difficulty hearing. Maybe it is painful. Maybe it is silly.
Of course, 90 seconds isn’t enough. But I hope that in its brevity this can be a contagious snapshot of sacred listening. This is a joint practice and creative act of communication that can live on its own or become something bigger.
How it works:
Fill out the form below. I will send you a text message, then you can send me a 90 second voice memo. There are no guidelines or rules for what you can or cannot share in that 90 seconds. I will put aside time to sit in silence for a few minutes, and then film myself silently listening to your message for the first time. I will hold your words in my heart and ingest your truth. I will say nothing and I will bow to you. I will send you the video.
The fine print:
By sending me an audio message you are agreeing to have your voice shared anonymously as part of this project. If you would like your voice disguised, please let me know on the form. Though I will listen to every message and send back a video, it is not guaranteed that your message will be shared publicly.
Whether I know you or you are a stranger, when I receive this form we begin an intimate act of bravery and vulnerability. Thank you for being part of this.
